The interest in UFOs/UAPs and the potential for alien life seems to have grown exponentially in recent years. President Trump’s February 19 directive to begin reviewing, declassifying, and releasing documents related to the phenomenon has intensified this fascination among the public. As of mid-July 2026, there have been four document and image releases with more promised. The possibility of extraterrestrial beings raises several important questions for Christians to consider:
- What would the reality of extraterrestrial beings mean for the existence of God and the truth of Christianity?
- What should we make of these unexplained occurrences and what could they be?
- Do we have any reason to fear these potential beings?
Given these and other pertinent questions, the time is right to explore them and provide both a scientific and biblical perspective.
No Big Deal
Before we dive into what UAPs/UFOs may or may not be, we need to cover one very important point for the Christian. The existence or non-existence of extraterrestrial life has absolutely zero implications for the reality of God and the truth of Christianity. None.
We can very confidently make this statement for two simple reasons:
- The Bible says absolutely nothing about life on other planets. It simply isn’t addressed. This omission is easy to explain: The Bible was written to reveal God, His will, and His plan of salvation to mankind. Addressing potential life on other planets has nothing to do with God’s purpose for humanity or the mission of Christ.
- The existence of life on other planets does not somehow prove evolution is true. All of the many challenges faced by evolution are still there (see here, here, and here). And if God created countless forms of life on earth, why couldn’t He have done the same elsewhere?
In fact, none other than the famed, evangelical, 19th century Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon mentioned, in multiple sermons, that life may exist elsewhere:
“…I think it is no stretch of imagination to believe that, as this world is only one speck in the creation of God, there may be millions of other races in the countless worlds around us…”1
“It may be true that all those majestic orbs that stud the midnight sky are worlds filled with intelligent beings; it is much more easy to believe that they are than that they are not…”2
“It may be that every starry world teems with myriads of intelligent inhabitants; it is much more likely that it should be so than that it should not be so, seeing that God is not in the habit of creating anything in vain…”3
While the potential for alien life may seem unsettling at first, it does not in any way affect the truth of the gospel or the Bible. We serve an amazing God whose creation we are only beginning to understand. We must keep in mind that the universe was created to glorify God and show His power and majesty (e.g. Psalm 19:1, Isaiah 40:26, Psalm 8:3-4), not to somehow glorify or serve us.
Unexplained is not Unexplainable
It is important to note upfront that the vast majority (95%+) of supposed UFO/UAP phenomenon have natural, normal explanations. Things like airborne clutter/debris, drones, satellites, unusual cloud formations, ball lightning, optical illusions, the misidentification of the planet Venus, etc. are regularly confused for supposed alien activity, especially by a public that has been “trained” to expect such phenomena.
Another portion of sightings are very likely some form of advanced and secretive, but very human, technology that has not yet been made public. We also can’t ignore the reality that at least some of the stories about UAPs and alien interaction are simply made up for attention. However, there remains a small fraction, perhaps 1% or less, that is both credible and truly unexplained by any known facts. How should we view them?
Almost Certainly NOT Extraterrestrial
While a small portion of UAP phenomena is unexplained, there are a host of reasons why we can be practically certain they are not extraterrestrial aliens. The basic reason is that the fundamental laws of physics apply throughout the universe and they make interstellar travel extraordinarily challenging. As Nobel Prize winning Astro-physicist Richard Feynman has stated “the problem isn’t level of technology, it’s the laws of physics.”
Below are a few of the reasons such travel is practically impossible and there are countless videos on YouTube by well-known scientists making the same case. The aforementioned Feynman has a recording that details why such interstellar travel is exceedingly unlikely. Since it is almost two hours long, here is an AI generated summary that is less than 20 minutes. While Feynman is absolutely not a Christian, and I strongly disagree with his philosophical statements, his scientific rationale is very compelling.
The distances are too great
The immensity of the observable universe, with a radius of over 46 billion light years, is one reason why many believe aliens must exist. Ironically, even if they do, this same vastness is a key reason that they would never visit us. Just finding earth in such a large universe is orders of magnitude more challenging than finding the proverbial needle in a haystack.
If aliens did somehow find us, the distances would require that they spend decades, if not centuries or millennia, traveling here. Even assuming that aliens have developed advanced technologies that enable traveling at a significant fraction of light speed, the travel time between earth and the nearest, likely habitable planets is simply not feasible.
The energy requirements are too high
Accelerating to even 10% the speed of light requires incredible, practically unimaginable amounts of energy. For example, a 1,000 kg spaceship (smaller than a Mazda Miata) would require 4.53 x 1017 joules of energy4 to achieve that speed. For comparison, that is equivalent to ~7,200 Hiroshima bombs! And then the ship would require the same amount of energy to slow down once it arrived at earth. If this alien ever wants to return home, they need all that energy again, so the ultimate need is equivalent to >28,000 atom bombs. Finally, to create all that energy requires a substantial fuel source. Which adds weight. Which increases the energy needed…
Interstellar travel is incredibly dangerous
Traveling at such incredible speeds over vast distances doesn’t just require massive amounts of energy and time. It also carries huge, inherent risks. For instance, hitting even a speck of dust at 10% of light speed generates impact forces equivalent to at least a small bomb and potentially much more!5 Each cubic mile of outer space contains an average of 4,000-5,000 dust particles6, guaranteeing that any craft would be pummeled countless times over such a long trip. Combine this fact with the constant bombardment of potentially lethal radiation (X-rays, Gamma rays, UV, solar flares, etc.) and long-range space travel is extremely dangerous.
What about “wormholes?”
Science fiction has a very easy solution for all of the factors just mentioned. Traveling via wormholes, theoretical short cuts through spacetime, eliminates the need for light speed travel and vast time periods while eliminating the risk of interstellar collisions.
But there are still a few challenges:
- To the best of our knowledge, wormholes are only theoretical, not actual
- A wormhole large enough for a spacecraft to travel through would require orders of magnitude more energy than near light speed travel.
- It would also need massive amounts of exotic “negative” energy to stabilize it and keep it open.
- Massively intense gravity and radiation would most likely completely destroy anything that entered the wormhole
Other than these challenges, traveling via wormholes is great!
Evolution Make Aliens Inevitable?
As previously mentioned, Logic and Light has repeatedly discussed the massive challenges that make evolution practically impossible. However, many people believe the theory and invoke it to argue that, in such a massive universe, intelligent life must have evolved elsewhere. But ironically, if evolution is true, it makes aliens as described in practically every supposed eyewitness interaction statistically impossible! There are several reasons this is so:
Why do they look like us?
UFO/UAP lore clearly identifies at least four distinct species, supposedly from different planets. These four types, according to CIA-funded researcher Dr. Hal Puthoff, are: 1) Grays, 2) Nordics, 3) Reptilians, and 4) Insectoids7 (I am not making this up). Oddly, all four share the same basic human body form. They have two arms, two legs, a head, two eyes, and the equivalents of noses and mouths. If these creatures supposedly evolved light years away from us and each other, in totally different environments, under completely different conditions, why did we all turn out basically the same? Even on earth, where we share the same environment and history, >99.99% of other lifeforms look nothing like us.
How can they survive in our environment?
Similar to the above point, if these creatures supposedly evolved in completely different environments light years apart from each other, why can they all breathe our atmosphere? Why are they able to operate without issue on earth with its specific temperature range, gravitational pull, magnetic field, radiation levels, etc.? These aliens are rarely, if ever, reported in supposed abduction scenarios as needing life support systems to survive on earth. That should not be even remotely possible if they all evolved separately under unique circumstances far from earth.
How did we all evolve at the same time?
If evolution is true, how did we all arrive at basically the same time? Across 13.8 billion years of the evolutionary timeline, four separate and distinct interstellar species on four different worlds all happened to come into existence, via undirected, random mutations and natural selection, during the same .002% of the universe’s history?
Conclusion
We certainly have a long list of reasons to question whether or not these phenomena are extraterrestrial in nature. And everything we have heard about the beings themselves strongly argues that they are not the result of an undirected evolutionary process from planets distant and distinct from ours. But the fact remains that something real and unexplainable appears to be happening. What could it be?
Fortunately, while the Bible says nothing about alien life forms, it does give us information that could potentially explain these occurrences. And the insight the Bible provides is entirely consistent with emerging information coming out of investigations into alleged interactions with these supposed visitors from outer space. In our next article, we will reveal what is likely the true cause of these strange phenomena.
